They are the windows to your soul, the mirror to your thoughts….in this world where deception is the key; your eyes give you away…
Poets sing paeans, lovers wax eloquent, artists swoon, and illusionists falter at their mention …
Truly, beauty lies in the eyes.
And why not…all that’s best of dark and bright, would meet in your aspect, and your eyes..
Which is why the tiny laugh lines, the crows feet, the dark circles, the bags under the eyes, and the sagging brows irk you so….Which is also why even the beginnings of a haze gives you a panic attack, and a red eye is scarier than it should be…
Which is why it is good sense to care for them. Functionally, because they are your window to the world, to color, to light , and to shape and form. A regular yearly visit to your ophthalmologist, even if you are asymptomatic, will ensure that there functional status is up for review and any possibility of an ailment can be picked up at its nascent stage. You will off course, see your doctor in case of any symptoms, visual or otherwise.
Another aspect of taking care of your eyes is taking care of their aesthetics. Not just the quest for the elusive elixir of youth, but also the very basis of your self confidence and positive self image. Sparkling eyes, clear eyes, eyes that spell out youth and vigour and honesty and clarity of thought. Eyes that really and truly mirror your soul. Eyes that see, and celebrate what they see.
What if the rough and tumble of life and the stresses of everyday and resulted in eyes that aren’t just what they used to be? What if they are tired and droop, or are sunken and ringed with dark circles?
It is still not the end of the world, for your inner radiance will shine through. But what if they are making you feel like a poorer version of yourself, affecting your own perception ,if not that of the others.
Do not hesitate to seek help…help is available and is more accessible than you think.
You could try and seek advice from your local aesthetician, and off course your eye surgeon. The local spa might help, as could your dermatologist. Knife free surgery, as it is euphemistically called, can be just as life altering.
And if all else fails and you are sure, do seek out a qualified plastic surgeon in your area. Make sure he is certified, and well trained, and is part of a surgical facility you can trust. Also, discuss your expectations and fears at length. Talk about the techniques available, and about the risks of each surgery. Make sure your finances will stretch to the procedure, for your insurance agency will not pay for a cosmetic surgery, regardless of how essential you think it is for your emotional well being.
Because even though beauty lies in the eyes, it’s also in the eyes of the beholder.
